Hey there, fellow migraine warriors! We’re all too familiar with the unpredictable and often debilitating nature of migraines. But what about those weird, quirky symptoms that signal an attack is brewing? We wanted to know, so we asked our Facebook community: “What are your unusual early migraine signs?” And boy, did you guys deliver!
We received over 300 responses from people who’ve lived through the agony (and sometimes comedy) of migraines. And while everyone’s experience is unique, some common themes emerged. Here are the top 10 weird and wonderful symptoms that people reported experiencing before a migraine attack:
* The Yawn: Yep, some people yawn a lot just before an attack.
- Nausea Alert: For many, nausea is like a neon sign flashing “Migraine Ahead!”
- Neck Pain: Stiffness or pain in the neck can be a telltale sign that a migraine is looming.
- Difficulty Concentrating: Brain fog? Check. It’s like your thoughts are stuck in slow motion.
- Slurred Speech: Whoa, did you just slur those words? Yeah, it might mean an attack is on its way.
- Hiccups Galore: Hiccups can be a fun party trick… until they signal a migraine is coming.
But that’s not all. Other common early signs reported by our community included:
* Sweating
- Droopy eye
- Tasting metal (eww!)
- Frequent urination
- Jaw and/or eye pain
- Runny nose/sinus pressure
- Thirst
- Muscle tightening
We love hearing about these quirky symptoms because they show us that we’re not alone in this migraine journey. So, if you have a unique sign that signals an attack is coming, please share it with us in the comments below! Who knows, you might just help someone else recognize their own early warning signs.
Stay strong, friends!
